Nano One is a Vancouver-based technology company with a scalable industrial process for producing low cost high performance energy storage materials for batteries and a wide range of advanced nanostructured composite materials. The core technology assembles low-cost raw materials in solution (such as lithium, cobalt, magnesium) at high rates of production, prior to industrial driers and kilns completing the reaction.

A new generation of high capacity, high discharge rate batteries requires a new generation of separator membrane. Elegus has designed a solution, a separator capable of withstanding demanding operation conditions and high currents. Elegus Technologies is commercializing an ultra-strong membrane made from high-performance nanoscale fibers developed at the University of Michigan. The patent-pending process is based on transformation of para-aramid threads into membranes with pores in the 5-50 nm range.

24M was founded in 2010 by two MIT professors – Dr. Yet-Ming Chiang and Dr. W. Craig Carter – and Throop Wilder, an entrepreneur from the field of Internet communications and networking. The company’s technology was conceived at A123 Systems by Dr. Chiang and further developed over two years of research at MIT under the guidance of Drs. Chiang and Carter.
