Technology transfer

SGT has the expertise and experience in developing high performance materials and products through innovative applications of nanotechnology. “Nanotechnology” is the design, production (synthesis) and application of nanomaterials and nanostructures in advanced macrosystems. Materials reduced to the nanoscale (1x10-9 meter) show very different properties compared to what they exhibit on a macro-scale thereby enabling unique applications. It is possible to produce ultra-strong and ultra-light multifunctional materials through nanotechnology.

Maryland NanoCenter has been established as a partnership between two University of Maryland colleges: The A. James Clark School of Engineering and The College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS, formerly The College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences and The College of Chemical and Life Sciences) with sustaining support from the campus.

This pilot action GRAPHENE-CA paves the road to the FET Flagship "Graphene-Driven Revolutions in ICT and Beyond" (GRAPHENE). The GRAPHENE flagship ambition is to bring together a focused, interdisciplinary European research community that aims at a radical technology shift in information and communication technology that exploits the unique properties of graphene and related two-dimensional materials. Graphene research is an example of an emerging translational nanotechnology where discoveries in academic laboratories are rapidly transferred to applications and commercial products.
