Symposium on Assessing the Economic Impact of Nanotechnology

Conference
Monday, March 26, 2012 - 1:00am to Tuesday, March 27, 2012 - 1:00am

The proposed joint OECD/NNI/AAAS Symposium aims "to explore a wide range of issues that underpin the dynamism of national innovation initiatives, and in particular how improved estimates of return on investment from investments in nanotechnology can shape future funding opportunities and national policy development. Individual components of innovation systems, and an educated workforce, will be explored, as well as the interrelationships between them. Presentations will include analytic frameworks, case studies, and policy analyses. Recommendations for future actions and collaborations will be explored."

The outcomes of the Symposium are expected to include: a publicly available Symposium Report that outlines the current status of economic metrics technologies, understanding nanotechnology-enabled products by industrial sectors, and solutions to critical issues; proposed metrics for nanotechnology assessment; and recommendations to implement and evaluate the proposed metrics.
