Now Accepting Input: 2013 NNI Strategic Planning Workshop
Press ReleasesThe 2013 National Nanotechnology Initiative Strategic Planning Stakeholder Workshop is being held June 11-12, 2013, at the USDA Patriot Plaza Conference Center in Washington, DC. The workshop will obtain input from outside the U.S. Government on the future directions of the NNI. The recommendations of this one-and-a-half day workshop will inform the development of the 2013 NNI Strategic Plan. The goal of this workshop is to obtain input from stakeholders – both those new to nanoscale science, engineering, and technology and those already familiar with these fields and with the NNI – regarding revisions to the NNI Strategic Plan that will be proposed at the workshop.
National Nanotechnology Initiative Releases Regional, State, and Local Initiatives in Nanotechnology Report
HighlightsThis report on Regional, State, and Local (RSL) Initiatives in Nanotechnology is the result of a workshop convened 1–2 May 2012 in Portland, Oregon, by the Nanoscale Science, Engineering, and Technology (NSET) Subcommittee of the National Science and Technology Council. The report was made possible with the help of the NSET Subcommittee’s Nanomanufacturing, Industry Liaison, and Innovation (NILI) Working Group and with staff support from the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO). The workshop is part of the NSET Subcommittee’s long-range planning efforts for the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), the multi-agency Federal nanotechnology program.
Latest Manufacturing Institutes Compliment Nanoinformatics and Nanomanufacturing Initiatives
HighlightsWith the recent announcement by the administration on the technology focus and details for the next installment of Advanced Manufacturing Institutes (AMIs) as part of the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI), an assessment of key synergisms of U.S. initiatives in nanoinformatics and the nanomanufacturing enterprise is timely. The two DOD-led institutes will include technology focus areas in Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation (DMDI) and Lightweight and Modern Metals Manufacturing Innovation (LM3I).
RTI's Nanomaterial Registry Seeks Partners on Data Analysis
Press ReleasesRESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – RTI is expanding the utility of its Nanomaterial Registry by partnering with research organizations, universities, and industry in the nanomaterial research community to answer important questions on the connections between nanomaterial physical and chemical characteristics and nanomaterial benefits and risks.
The Nanomaterial Registry, available free to the public at www.nanomaterialregistry.org, is a growing, central resource for well-characterized nanomaterials and studies on their biological and environmental implications.
"The Registry is intended to be a tool for the entire nanomaterial community," said Michele Ostraat, Ph.D.
