The International Conference Material Science in the Age of Nano will take place from the 23 to the 28 of November 2009 organized by the Institute of Material Science and Technology (IMRE) of the University of Havana.

The conference will also be the starting event for the 25 years of IMRE. IMRE is a university center involved in scientific research, technological innovation, postgraduate studies and community projects. Its major areas of interest are Material Science and Technology coordinating Cuba only Master and Doctoral program in this field.

The University of Havana was founded on the 5 of January 1728, it is the Alma Mater of Cuba higher education and during its 280 years has been an important actor in Cuba's social, political and cultural life.

The main theme of the event will be Material Science in the Age of Nano focusing in a multiple approach to the subject allowing a more holistic analysis of the field including from the technical and scientific aspects to its social, political and ecological impact including public perception.

The event will include invited talks, oral presentation and posters.
