Ildar Salakhutdinov

Ildar Salakhutdinov received his diploma in radio-physics and electronics from Kazan State University in 1985, and Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics from the General Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) in 1996, where he was working from 1995 to 2001 studying waveguide gratings and long-range surface plasmons-polaritons (LRSPP). From 2001 to 2003 he worked in Micro Managed Photons A/S (Denmark) where his tasks included characterization optical communications components on the base of LRSPP by scanning near-filed optical microscopy (SNOM). In 2004 he joined ECE Department of Wayne State as a postdoc research fellow. Currently he is Assistant Professor –Research of Smart Sensors and Integrated Microsystems of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Wayne State University. His current research interests are in photonics, nanofabrication, bio-photonics, integrated optics and plasmonics. He is author or coauthor of more than 50 scientific papers as well as one U.S. patent.
