The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO) will hold its next free webinar focusing on the experiences, successes, and challenges for small- and medium-sized businesses working in nanotechnology and on issues of interest to the business community on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from 2-3 PM EDT. The webinar will be hosted by the National Science Foundation’s Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing, at Northeastern University’s College of Engineering in Boston.
Who: Speakers at the event will include:
• Marcie Black:
CEO and co- founder of Advanced Silicon Group (ASG). Prior to founding ASG, Dr. Black held positions on the technical staff at Los Alamos National Laboratory and on the engineering staff at Motorola, and o-founded Bandgap ngineering. She was named one of the “Women to Watch in 2010” by Mass High Tech. ASG makes low-cost nanowire arrays for use in solar photovoltaic arrays and in devices to detect biological contaminants.
• Viktor Vejins:
President and CEO of Nano-C, Inc., based outside of Boston. Previously, Mr. Vejins led an advanced materials start-up funded exclusively by Cabot Corporation targeting transportation-related applications. Prior to joining Cabot, he as a management consultant with Arthur D. Little, Inc. and AT Kearney in chemicals and materials. Nano-C is commercializing nanostructured carbon-based materials and chemicals for applications in electronics and renewable energy.

About the Event: Members of the nanotechnology business community, as well as interested members of the general public, media, academia, industry, NGOs, and Federal, state, and local governments, are encouraged to participate.
Invited speakers will begin the event by providing an overview of their experiences, successes, and challenges in the nanotechnology small business space. This will be followed by a Q&A segment with members of the public. Questions for the panel can be submitted to webinar@nnco.nano.gov from now through the end of the webinar at 3 PM on May 11, 2016.
This webinar is free and open to the public with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is now open and will be capped at 500 people.
