Boston, MA: Registration is still open and sponsorship opportunities are still available for the 6th New England Nanomanufacturing Workshop to be held in Boston on September 11 and 12, 2008.

Titled "Breaking the Barriers to Nanomanufacturing to Enable the Commercialization of Nanotechnology," the workshop is organized by the Center for High Rate Nanomanufacturing.

A complete agenda, registration details, and speaker abstracts are available from the conference website.

In addition to providing a forum for industry and academic leaders to discuss the challenges that face nanomanufacturing, the workshop will dedicate a day to explore the Environmental Health and Safety implications for nanomaterials.

"On the workshops second day, two sessions on Friday September 12 will offer updates by experts from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance and Technology (OTA), which is a non-regulatory office within the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, as well as recent findings by researchers from the NSF Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing and the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Institute . Current EHS information and resources, such as InterNano, will also be showcased. Highlights will be presented from a workshop by the Emerging Nanoscale Materials Specialty Group of the Society of Risk Analysis. Participants can expect to learn more about current practices for managing the hazards and risks of nanoscale materials. An afternoon panel discussion will be held to explore inquiries on commercialization of nanotechnologies in light of uncertain regulatory environment"
