BioNanoNet Forschungsgesellschaft mbH

Since its foundation in 2006, BioNanoNet has promoted innovative research by supporting cooperation, creating synergies in Austria and initiating national and international research projects in the fields of medical and pharmaceutical research, nanomedicine, nanotoxicology and sensor technology. The success of the BioNanoNet stems from the “network platform” and the coordination among leading key players from this platform, which is the engine that drives interdisciplinary and innovative processes in these research areas.

BioNanoNet represents a critical network node and has the clear aim to efficiently and selectively establish contacts among its members and potential customers, including those from the industry, in each of the network’s thematic fields. Due to the multidisciplinary expertise of the individual members (national and international organisations, research organisations and universities), we offer our customers efficient solutions. The initiation and coordination of national and international research projects along the entire value chain is another important mission of the BioNanoNet. BioNanoNet brings together researchers conducting medical and pharmaceutical research to increase the international competitiveness and visibility of all stakeholders.

The diversity and interdisciplinary nature of the BioNanoNet members and their complementary areas of expertise allow them to find answers to great challenges and pressing issues across a wide range of applications and products, thus addressing medical needs by achieving important technical developments, e.g., in nanotechnology. The substantial knowledge and experience of BioNanoNet members ensures that further development in the key areas of the company takes place.

BioNanoNet is an Austrian network in the Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) of bio- and nanotechnology with international visibility in the scientific areas of:

1. nanotoxicology,
2. sensor technology
3. and health and safety, including (nano-)medicine and nanosafety.

Bio- and nanotechnologies are regarded as Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) for the 21st century and, as a central component of the European Union research and innovation strategy, have received significant funding. Bio- and nanotechnologies play a pivotal role in HORIZON 2020, the current EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

In 2014 the BioNanoNet Association was founded which is now owner of the BioNanoNet ForschungsgmbH.
