Workshop to Focus on Networks, Risk and Knowledge Sharing

National Nanomanufacturing Network: Limited seating is still available for the second annual Nanotechnology and Society: Emerging Opportunities and Challenges workshop to be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The focus of this year's event is networks, risk and knowledge sharing.

This workshop will provide a forum for dialogue among social scientists, policy researchers and nanoscientists, focusing on how innovation works in networks of scientists, univeristy and firms; how scientists, policymakers and managers approach risk and its management in the context of emerging technologies and policies; and how nanosicence and technology knowlege can be diffused effectively using cyberinfrastructure and cybertools.

The keynote speaker, Julia Lane of the National Science Foundation, will speak on  "Advancing the Science of Science and Innovation Policy: Current Approach and Next Steps."

Workshop panelists include Stine Grodal, Boston University; Sarah Kaplan, University of Pennsylvania; Gerald Marschke, SUNY Albany; Alan L. Porter, Gerogia Tech; Erik Fisher, Arizona State University; and Geri Augusto, Brown University.
