Nanotechnology's Glass Menagerie

Highlights
The infinite possibilities are crystal clear.
Every time I gaze up at the multi-hued light pouring through stained glass windows in a Renaissance-era cathedral, I'm captivated. Art glass has always been a fascination, so maybe it's sublime fate that nanotechnology is part of its beauty. It's true -- nano-gold was used to create red glass going back to ancient Egypt, and in the Middle Ages gold and other nanoparticles became elements in the new art of stained glass. So nanotechnology is surely part of the secret of the deep purples, heavenly blues and warm golds that have tinted the sun's rays on centuries of pilgrims.

Call for Papers: 2012 IEEE Workshop on Nanoinformatics for Biomedicine

Calls
2012 IEEE Workshop on Nanoinformatics for Biomedicine October 4-7, 2012, Philadelphia, PA,  USA,in conjunction with2012 IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine (BIBM 2012) The application of nanotechnology in biomedicine offers innovative approaches to disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention. To address the ever-growing information needs of nanomedicine, nanoinformatics is playing an important role in acquiring relevant data/information, conceptually organizing information for conversion to knowledge, and developing computing applications that are based on important parameters at the nanoscale and applicable in a broad health perspective.
